Commissions

Even though the majority of my work is of dogs or cats, I am more than happy to take on commissions of something that isn't a pet!

Maybe you're after a bespoke drawing of your favourite animal, but you don't happen to have a photo of a white tiger swimming in a lake casually available to you. Fear not! I have access to an artist's network of all kinds of different animal photos, and I would love to discuss your ideas!

I've also previously drawn cars, and even a motorbike!

Please note, I am not currently offering human portraits- they don't have enough fur, skin tone is really difficult, and faces scare me.

Commission Process

  • Check out my prices

  • Check out my gallery

  • Read the photo tips and Ts&Cs on this page

  • Find your best photos, or gather your ideas

  • Contact me

  • Pay your 30% booking fee to secure your place

  • Chill out excitedly for a few days or weeks

  • Approve the finished work

  • Pay your remaining balance

  • Receive your artwork

  • Pop it into a frame and display anywhere

  • Recommend me to everyone you know ;)

Reference Photo Tips

  • Photos taken at eye level make the best references

  • Natural light, and no filter, is the best for details and colour. Try to avoid deep shadows across the face or body. Unless that is the look you're going for!

  • The better the photo, the better the artwork.

  • You MUST have permission from the photographer to use the photo. If you didn't take the photo yourself I will require written permission from the photographer for copyright purposes.

  • When getting a great photo isn't possible, for example a memorial piece, send me the best photos you have- the more the better- and I'll see if any are suitable.

  • I reserve the right to refuse to take on a commission if I don't believe I can produce a high enough standard of artwork due to poor reference photos

Just how important is a good reference photo?

Commission Terms and Conditions
Paying a booking fee is an agreement to these terms

  • Your reference photo will be agreed upon before you pay your booking fee.

  • I work on a first booked in, first drawn basis. I will let you know how many are booked in before you.

  • Time estimates aren't possible as commissions can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to complete, depending on size and complexity of the work.

  • I will give you at least one week's notice before I start your portrait.

  • If you need to cancel during the week's notice, before I've started your portrait, then half of your booking fee (15% of the balance) will be returned to you. However, you will forfeit the entire 30%  if you cancel after I have begun work.

  • Example: you would like one A4 coloured pencil portrait of your pet pigeon, which is £260. We agree on the best photo and you pay a £78/30% booking fee. A few weeks later I email to say that I will be starting your pigeon in a week. You then have seven days to cancel and get £39/15% back. If you cancel on or after day eight, you don't get any money back.

  • In the rare instance that I need to cancel, then your entire booking fee will be returned to you.

  • I will send you two progress photos of your drawing. Please use these progress reports to let me know if you are not happy with how it is going. As it is much easier to change/fix things earlier on!

  • The finished artwork will not be sent until you are completely happy and the remaining 70% has been paid.

  • If the remaining balance has not been paid within 30 days of completion, (unless previously agreed) I reserve the right to sell the artwork and/or make prints to sell and use as promotional material.

  • All rights to the artwork produced remain with me.

  • You may not copy or profit from the finished artwork.
